Join the Royal Aeronautical Society for British Science Week!

Over the next 10 days, we are running the RAeS Science Challenge! We have split up the aerospace industry into five key areas, so kids and adults both old and young can take part in learning about the industry through fun activities! These areas are:

  • Aviation
  • Research
  • Space
  • Inclusivity and Diversity
  • Aerospace Engineering

Join us over the week for range of activities celebrating each area. Each activity comes with its own passport stamp for you to collect and add to your passport certificate at the end of the week! Make sure to download your certificate. The activity stamps will be released with each new challenge!

Aviation Day

The theme for the 12th is “Aviation”, so the activities we have lined up for you to take part in are aviation themed! Test our four gliders as part of our Cool Aero initiative, or create your own glider launcher.

Space Day

The theme for the 14th is “Space”, so let’s get exploring! Track the phases of the moon or design a lunar lander with household objects for our space themed activities. There is some potentially new maths to do for the Lunar Lander challenge, so if you get stuck, ask your teachers, or email the Education and Skills team here at the RAeS.

Inclusivity and Diversity Day

The theme for the 16th is “Inclusivity and Diversity”, showing the positive advancements that have been made to improve diversity and inclusion in the industry, but also highlighting how more still needs to be done. For those 11 years old and younger, there is still time to take part in our Falcon 2 Poster challenge to create an accessible flight simulator. For everyone else, a research crossword highlighting the achievements of people within the aerospace, aviation and space industries who may not have received the recognition they deserved in their time, or are just less known.
