Rishi Radia AMRAeS – Careers & Outreach Officer, RAeS

I had desired to work in the Aerospace sector since childhood, due to the influence of my father who gained a Private Pilots License and is an aviation enthusiast. My journey began at the age of 12 whereby I joined the Air Training Corps based at RAF Northolt. Additionally at the age of 13, I also became a Student Affiliate of the Royal Aeronautical Society whereby I could be seen attending various events and lectures I had always endeavoured to become a Commercial Airline Pilot and therefore upon finishing A-Levels, I embarked on gaining an ATPL license at CAE Oxford Aviation Academy. Upon completing the integrated course, I held various positions in the aviation industry, being based at Heathrow Airport as a Customer Service Representative for Menzies Aviation, to taking my career to the skies as a Cabin Crew with easyJet based at Luton Airport. I then went on to undertake a position in Ground Operations with British Airways whilst also searching for that all important First Officer position within an airline. Regrettably throughout this period, I was forced to give up my lifelong ambition of being an airline pilot due to unforeseen circumstances. However due to the major influence of aviation in my life up to this point, I felt that I could use my skills and knowledge to add value in other areas of our vastly evolving industry, in particular inspiring the next generation of young people into the world of Aerospace. This has then brought me to work here at the Royal Aeronautical Society, whereby I am able to use my knowledge and experience to assist the younger generation to carve out their path in the Aerospace industry.
