The college is dedicated to arming its students with the skills and knowledge needed to embark on the career of their choice, and to increase their chances of finding a job which they will find rewarding and enjoyable. The college works across a wide range of industry sectors, from hospitality and catering through to media and management. However, the college has a particularly strong connection with the aviation and aerospace industry, and boasts a thriving and successful engineering department. The college used to be where Royal Aircraft Establishment (RAE) apprentices did their technical training, before working across the road at the main RAE site. Now, the engineering department offers a range of qualifications from diplomas, foundation degrees, degrees and apprenticeships.

For young people looking for a career in the MRO sector (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul), the advanced apprenticeship in Aircraft Maintenance could be a great starting point. The apprenticeship involves the apprentice working 4 days a week with a local employer, and 1 day a week at college learning new skills and knowledge. This culminates in achieving a level certificate in Aeronautical Engineering. This is academically equivalent to 2-3 A levels. This apprenticeship programme works with a number of local employers including British Airways, TAG, PremiAir, Gama and ATC Lasham. An apprenticeship is a great way to start earning a wage whilst continuing to gain qualifications which are relevant to the career they want to pursue.
