Self Assessment Portal

Are You Interested In Working In The Aerospace Industry? Time to Assess Yourself!

Aptitude testing is now a regular feature in recruitment for all kinds of roles but in aerospace, particularly for roles which attract a high number of applicants and/or require a complex set of skills and competences, such as spatial awareness combined with communication skills and roles such as aircraft apprenticeships and graduate engineering schemes.

In association with online psychometric testing specialists cut-e, Careers in Aerospace have launched a new self assessment portal. The portal allows those interested in a career in the aerospace industry to assess  themselves against some of the key aptitudes competencies sought by employers.

You can try out assessments, receive e-mails and ask related questions. Assessment are available for Apprentices (Aircraft engineering  & Maintenance), Graduates (Engineering) and Pilots

Participants will benefit from exposure to examples of the types of tests they might be required to take during the recruitment process for the top aviation and aeronautical companies. Practice makes perfect so have a go and see where your strengths lie and where you may need to improve.

1. Apprentice Test

You will complete three assessments that measure your likely fit for apprentice roles:

  • Logical Reasoning Test: Measures your understanding of logical systems, a key skill for fault diagnosis and repair.
  • Visual Thinking Test: Measures your ability to detect differences between complex figures that have been rotated and/or mirrored, a key skill when fitting and repairing components that look different in-situ to how they look when fresh out of the box.
  • Work Style Questionnaire: Measures key aspects of your approach to work: how you work with others, how you approach problems, what drives you etc..

2. Pilot Test

You will complete three assessments that measure your likely fit for the role of Pilot:

  • Logical Reasoning Test: Measures your understanding of complex logical systems, a key skill for working with the different systems and controls in an aircraft.
  • Spatial Orientation Test: Measures the ability to work out the position and course of an aircraft using a gyro and a radio compass.
  • Work Style Questionnaire: Measures key aspects of your approach to work: how you work with others, how you approach problems, what drives you etc..

You will complete three assessments that measure your likely fit for graduate roles in aerospace:

  • Calculation Test: Measures your ability to make quick and accurate calculations, a core skill when working with numerical data of any kind.
  • Logical Reasoning Test: Measures your ability to see patterns in complex data, an essential skill for making sense of any business or technical data sets.
  • Work Style Questionnaire: Measures key aspects of your approach to work: how you work with others, how you approach problems, what drives you etc.

You will complete three assessments that measure your likely fit for management roles in air transport:

  • Measurement of Competencies: Measures your skills and competencies.
  • Measurement of Numerical Reasoning: Measures your ability to assess data for numerical trends.
  • Discoving Rules and Interrelations: Measures your ability to discover rules and interrlations from complex information.
