USA students from Penn Manor High School in Millersville win this year's Tri-Nation rocketry final.
At this year's Futures Day at the Farnborough International Air Show, 23 July, the three winning schools from the USA, UK and France national rocketry competitions met for the international fly-off to see who would take the international trophy in 2010.
Success went to the USA team, Penn Manor High School in Millersville who got the best score on the day. All three teams were working to the same criteria: to launch a rocket that reaches an altitude of 825 feet, stays aloft for 40-45 seconds and returns a raw hen's egg unbroken. As part of their score, teams also had to give an eight-minute presentation on their rocket design to a panel of international judges.
The UK 2010-11 national competition will open in September 2010 and is open to teams of 11-18 year-olds with a trip to the USA to be won and money for your school! Watch this space for more details!
