The Royal Aeronautical Society’s President’s Summit took place on 20-21 September 2023 at No.4 Hamilton Place in London. The President’s Summit is the Society’s flagship annual event on a key topic in aerospace, aviation or space, as chosen by the Society’s President. This year’s Summit, hosted by current President Kerissa Khan MRAeS, focussed on the theme of Future of Flight and explored the potential for Advanced Air Mobility technologies to transform the urban, regional and rural transport ecosystem as we know it. Head to the Society Insight Blog to learn more about the event.

The two days of conference were followed by a Cool Aeronautics event, which is one of our flagship outreach programmes for primary school students. It was important to Kerissa that we reached out to schools whose students are not as represented in the aerospace, aviation and space industries, to encourage these young people to reach for the stars, or skies, themselves.

Over the course of the day, the future of flight was explored through talks and activities from our three supporters; Spaceport Cornwall, Flight Crowd, and Airspeeder. Our 85 primary school guests got to build rockets that we launched in the building; design the cities of the future to prepare for Urban Air Mobility operations (UAM); and team up to design, build, and pilot gliders. The students then got to meet Kerissa, who told them about her journey in the industry and the Royal Aeronautical Society, inspiring them to consider a future in aerospace, aviation and space.
